Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about chiropractic care at V.I.P. Chiropractic Care in Austin, TX.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
Generally you don't need a referral to see a chiropractor, however some HMO insurance plans do require a referral before providing coverage.
What should I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit includes a full consultation, physical and chiropractic examination, digital X-rays if needed, and often your first adjustment. Plan for 30 minutes.
How do I know if chiropractic care is right for me?
If you're dealing with back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain, or any musculoskeletal issue, chiropractic care is likely a great fit. Dr. Glen will evaluate your condition and let you know what to expect.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Yes. Chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of healthcare for musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Glen will review your health history and imaging before any treatment to ensure it's appropriate for you.
Treatments & Techniques
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most patients experience little to no discomfort during an adjustment. You may hear a popping sound — this is just gas releasing from the joint, not bones cracking. Some mild soreness after the first few visits is normal.
What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing in injured tissue. It's non-invasive, drug-free, and highly effective for chronic conditions like plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy, and stubborn soft tissue injuries.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on your condition. Acute injuries may resolve in a few visits. Chronic conditions typically require more care. Dr. Glen will give you a clear plan at your first visit.
Do you treat children?
Yes. We offer gentle pediatric chiropractic care for children of all ages. Adjustments for children use very light pressure and are adapted to their size and development.
Do you treat pregnant women?
Yes. Dr. Glen is Webster Technique certified, a specialized approach for prenatal chiropractic care that is safe and effective throughout pregnancy.
